Bellingcat — an introduction to open source investigations

Participants will be introduced to the investigative collective Bellingcat, and a selection of the many open source investigations the collective has conducted on Syria and Iraq. With the help of geobased search and verification techniques, Bellingcat was able to reveal more information about potential war crimes and propaganda. The collective collaborates with a variety of media and institutions, including: Amnesty International, Human Rights Watch, UC Berkeley Human Rights Center, UN OHCHR, Airwars.
